Nürnberg, Deutschland

Join me as I explore Nürnberg..or Nuremberg as written in English..located in Bayern (Bavaria) on the Pegnitz River. Nürnberg is the second largest city second to München (Munich) and approximately 517,500 people live here with 37% of this population having an immigrant background.
Nürnberg was first documented aroud 1050 and in the 15th and 16th centuries became the center of the German Renaissance. The first german railway, the Bavarian Ludwigsbahn was opended in 1835 and traveled between Nürnberg and Fürth. During the Nazi Germany time period the city was chosen to be the site of the Nazi Party Conventions in 1927, 1929, and then yearly from 1933-1938. During WWII the city sustained major damage from Allied
bombings, and in the years of 1045-1946 Nürnberg was the location for the Nürnberg Trials, where German officials involved in war crimes were tried before an international tribunal.
On a lighter..and yummier note at that..Nürnberg is known for 2 specific foods ..The Nürnberger Bratwurst (as pictured below) and Lebkuchen- a ginger bread eaten primarily during the Christmas season.
