Kaiserslautern

Hello to all of you...as promised some images of Kaiserslautern. .located in Southwest Germany and affectionately referred to as Ktown by the close to 50,000 US service members that live here. Kaiserslautern is located in Rheinland Pfalz and is centrally located for fairy easy access to wonderful places like France and Italy...but you don't have to leave Germany for breathtaking sites. .located close are areas such as the Deutsche Weinstrasse. .In This fabulous city there are tons of things to do and see such as shopping in Zentrum,  visiting the Kaiserslautern Zoo,  the Japanese Gardens,  the Gartenschau or one of the several museums or libraries. Kaiserslautern is also home to a large University and you can eat and drink your way through your visit at the many cafés and restaurants.  This is my second home here in Deutschland. .some months I am here more than I am home in Ostfriesland. ..would love to have you visit and explore Kaiserslautern and all the surrounding areas have to offer...PS..check out the local festival schedule before you come...Hier ist immer Etwas los!!!

Emden Canal Cruise

Hello all...my flip flops took us to Emden last Thursday for a boat tour of the canals. .lasted about an hour and a half and we had an entertaining moderator. .Emden is a city in Ostfriesland. .in the northwest part of Germany..I get here at least once a week and my husband 5 days a week as Volkswagen is also the largest employeer in the city..the Passat is produced here..but..back to the city..The city was first developed in the 8th century,  was a central location for the Protestant Reformation in the 16th century, was industrialized in the late 1800's and was mostly destroyed by bombs during the Second World War. The City encompasses 112 km2 and in 2012 had a population of almost 50,000. There is quite a bit to see and do here..several museums, a city center that has a market every week, not to mention the numerous festivals that take place throughout the year..when in this part of the world a shame to miss.

Langeoog. ..

Hello all..wanted to share with you all just one of the treasures we have here off of the coast of Ostfriesland. ..located on the North Sea...Langeoog is 1 from 7 Islands that are inhabited in this area..there are 4 more which are much smaller with no one living on them. Facts over this fabulous place..belongs to Landkreis Wittmund, is 19,67 km2, as of 2012 had a population of 1691, located 5 km from the mainland, and is located between the islands Baltrum and Spiekeroog.  You have 2 ways to get there..by ferry or small plane as they do have a small airstrip located on the Island..but once you get there you are taken to the main part by train..a very colorful train..you have to love the charm! There are no quote unquote autos on the island besides for sanitation and medical uses..for supply transport they use what I think of as large golf carts..typical way to get around you ask..bike or feet...how can you not appreciate this..decreased noise, decreased pollution. .a dream for a vacation spot. Small enough to get to everywhere super easy but large enough to be there for a period of time and not be bored. We only spent a day here..ferry runs morning and evening but have already promised ourselves that next summer we will spend a week with our feet in the sand and exploring.

Welcome to what I am lucky to have as a life full of adventures..I am happy to have you join me while I explore this world..sometimes just for fun, sometimes because I am blessed enough to have a job that opens tons of doors for me to look through, and sometimes with others, but always..always.. because I love to experience new places, people, foods, fashions, you name it..I want to see it, live it, and to the neverending source ofembarrassment to my family photograph it!! Looking forward to starting our journey tomorrow with a trip to the Island Langeoog..one of several off of the coast of Northern Germany in the North Sea...so..until tomorrow..Happy travels!!
